Japan Visa for UAE Residents 2026: VFS Process, eVISA, Documents, Fees and Processing Time

How UAE residents apply for a Japan tourist visa in 2026: VFS Dubai or eVISA, documents, financial proof, processing time and fees.

Quick answer: Whether you need a Japan visa depends on your passport, not your UAE residency. Many passports (including India, Pakistan and the Philippines) are not visa-exempt. Since 1 August 2024 the Consulate-General of Japan in Dubai no longer accepts applications directly; sticker visas go through VFS Global Dubai. An eVISA exists for selected nationalities, so check eligibility first. Allow about 5 to 10 working days for VFS processing (sources vary up to several weeks in peak season), and apply 4 to 6 weeks before travel. Last verified: 17 October 2026.

Which Route Applies to You?

Route Who How
Visa-free Eligible passports only (Emirati passport holders are reported to have 90 day visa-free access, one source says 30, so verify) No visa application
eVISA Selected nationalities only Online, shown on your device at immigration
Sticker visa via VFS Most other passports In person at VFS Global Dubai with original passport
